About Abbott Mount

The hill station of Abbott Mount is nestled at 6400 ft in the Kali Kumaon region of Champawat district, approximately 20 kilometres from Champawat. This picturesque hill station was discovered in the early 20th century by Britisher John Harold, who desired to establish a European settlement here due to its alpine-like atmosphere. Thus, the hill received its moniker. Here, Abbott constructed 13 cottages and a church amidst the orchards and forest. From Abbott Mount, visitors can experience a breathtaking panorama of the Himalayan peaks, including Nanda Devi, Panchchuli, Trishul, and Nanda Kot, which provides a stunning photo opportunity. With its dense forests of Deodars, Pine, and Rhododendron (Burans), Abott Mount is a summertime paradise for birdwatchers, photographers, nature walkers and butterfly enthusiasts, but it offers a similar delightfully heavenly experience under the spell of snow in winters.
